Towing answers the automakers changed

Automakers reissue their towing guides under the same title, and the new file doesn't say what changed. We keep the earlier editions we can find — on the maker's own site or in the Internet Archive — and compare them with the current one, table cell by table cell.

How we find and check them

1. For every document we cite, we look for other files the maker published under the same title: renamed revisions on its site and earlier copies in the Internet Archive.
2. Each earlier edition is compared with the current one page by page. Where a page differs, every answer we publish from it is read again in the earlier edition.
3. A change is published only when both editions are read at the same table cell — the same column heading and row label — and an automated check confirms it on both files.

The dates are the PDF files' own modification dates; makers don't publish a change log. Your owner's manual and the maker's current documents take precedence over any website, including this one. See also how we verify every number.
