How we verify every number
A wrong towing number can put a trailer behind a vehicle that can't stop it. So this site publishes only what a manufacturer has printed, and shows you where.
Where the numbers come from
Only the manufacturer's own documents: annual towing guides first, owner's manuals where a maker has no guide. We use:

Manufacturers revise these PDFs during the model year (pages carry “REVISED” dates). We record the version and each page's revision date, and link every number to its page.
How they are read
- Numbers are taken from the PDF by their position in the table — which column (cab, drive, trim) and which row (engine, axle) they sit in — so nothing is retyped by hand. Footnote marks printed next to numbers are split off and kept as conditions (“Requires Tow/Haul Package (53T)”).
- An automated check then confirms that every number and every quoted sentence appears on the page it cites.
- Each table is compared by eye with the rendered page. Where a PDF draws a number as an image rather than text, the value is marked as checked against the image.
Currently published: 363 trailer ratings, 28 hitch limits, 47 flat-tow answers.
What we never do
- Estimate a rating the maker didn't publish, or copy one from a forum or dealer page.
- Show one headline number without the configuration it takes to reach it.
- Present advice as a rule. The “stay under 80%” margin you'll see mentioned is common dealer advice, not a manufacturer requirement, and is labelled that way.
- Rank or review vehicles.
